82Invitation to share feedback on Crossref Member Practices
Dear all,
Following an update to Crossref’s member terms in 2025 to include an obligation to follow published Member Practices, we are now pleased to share the draft of the new Crossref Member Practices. These aim to set out the standards that we expect all Crossref members to meet and are scheduled to be published in December 2026. You can read the Member Practices and read more about the background to this in our blog.
We are especially interested in getting feedback on the Member Practices from the publishing community in Asia and request you to review the draft Member Practices to help finalise it. To share your feedback, I invite you to join us for an online call on 26th August at 07:00 UTC (click for your time zone). Please use this link to register for the meeting:

We encourage you to review the Member Practices. At the meeting, we’d love to hear your feedback on the following questions please:
•Are the outlined Member Practices in line with your expectations of standard best publishing practices? What surprised you?
•Do the outlined Crossref Member Practices feel realistic and achievable?
o Are there any barriers to fulfilling any of these practices for your organisation or in your community?
•Are there any practices or behaviours that have been discouraged in the Crossref Member Practices but are considered a standard publishing practice in your organisation or community?
o Ask to share more information about the behaviour or practice itself
o What are the reasons for these practices?
•Is there anything missing that you would like to see included in the Member Practices?
•Do you need any more information or guidance that would help you in fulfilling any of the Member Practices?
o Are there any terms or definitions that you are unfamiliar with?
Your feedback will be used to finalise the draft of the Member Practices. The finalised set will then be shared with the Crossref board for a final review and approval.
If you are not able to attend this meeting, you are also welcome to share your feedback via email.
Download the PDF of the member practices, add your comments in the document, and email this document to feedback@crossref.org with the subject line “Feedback on Crossref member practices”. Or email your feedback directly in an email to feedback@crossref.org with the subject line “Feedback on Crossref member practices”.
I hope that you are able to join us at the meeting.
With best wishes,
Madhura Amdekar
