FAOBMB Education Special Travel Fellowships

The FAOBMB and the Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSBMB) would like to invite you to apply for the FAOBMB Education Special Travel Fellowships, to attend the IUBMB Education Symposium to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 25-26 August 2025.

The specific objectives of the FAOBMB Education Special Travel Fellowships Scheme are:

·    to improve research skills, innovative educational practice, and collaboration on biochemistry and molecular biology education;

·    to enable the Fellowship recipient to gain a wider exposure to, and deeper appreciation of, research and scholarship in biochemistry and molecular biology education at an advanced international level.

The FAOBMB Education Special Travel Fellowships are available to applicants who hold a position of researcher/educationist and are actively engaged in teaching and learning programs in the disciplines of biochemistry and molecular biology in an FAOBMB member country.  Applicants must hold a PhD or Masters degree or equivalent and be within 15 years of completion of their postgraduate degree. All awardees must give an oral presentation about their Education research work at the IUBMB Education Symposium.

Note that while PhD candidates are not normally eligible for the Award of an Education Special Travel Fellowship, applications may be considered from exceptional PhD candidates whose topic is educational research or scholarship in the disciplines of biochemistry and molecular biology, in addition to their being actively engaged in teaching and learning programs at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.

Key dates for FAOBMB Education Special Travel Fellowships 2025

·     Fellowship Application submission deadline: 30th May 2025

·     Successful candidates will be announced: 15th June 2025

Benefits

·     Registration fee waiver for the IUBMB Education Symposium .

·     Travel grant that contributes towards a return airfare (economy class) from the applicant’s place of residence and accommodation during the IUBMB Education Symposium. 

·    Funding up to $1000 is available, and decisions on the exact amount given will be decided at a later date once applications have been received.
